Made-to-measure DC power cable assemblies
Cut to length, crimped and checked before it leaves the bench
Tell us the conductor, the length and what goes on each end. We make it on the bench in Hamble and post it. A different stud at each end costs nothing extra.
A different stud at each end costs nothing extra
M8 onto the battery post, M10 onto the busbar, one assembly. Both ends price on the conductor size, not the stud, so a mixed pair costs what a matched pair costs.
Single runs to 20 metres
Most made-to-measure sellers stop between 1.2 and 8 metres. A bow thruster or a stern-mounted bank can be one continuous run with no joint in the middle.
The figures are published
Current rating, resistance per metre, outside diameter, mass per metre and AWG equivalent on every size, and the price broken down before you commit to it.
Not sure what size you need?
Tell our calculator the load, the run length and where the cable goes. It checks current rating and volt drop together, tells you which one decided the size, and gives you the fuse and the holder as well.
It uses the real published resistance of tinned flexible copper, corrected for the temperature the cable actually runs at, and it sizes the conductor to carry the fuse rather than just the load. That usually makes our answer a size larger than a free tool's, and we show you exactly why.
Straight to a common one: 1000W at 12V, 2000W at 12V, 3000W at 12V, 3000W at 24V.
What we stock
Conductor, terminals, protection and the parts that hold it together.
How an assembly is ordered
Four steps. The price updates as you go and the breakdown is on screen throughout.
Conductor
Tinned copper where it will see damp or salt, plain copper where it will not, thin wall for lighter runs. Tinned costs more, and on a dry inland install it buys you very little. We would rather say so.
Length
Measured between terminal hole centres, or from the hole centre to the cut end where one end is unterminated. Finished tolerance ±2%.
Both ends
Any stud size at either end, or unterminated. Anything that cannot be crimped onto that conductor is switched off with the reason on the button, so a combination that will not work cannot be ordered.
We make it
Crimped, sealed with adhesive-lined heat shrink, labelled with the specification, and posted. Two to three working days.
Ring before you order, not after
Sizing a run is a two-minute conversation if you know the current, the distance and whether it is bundled or in free air. We would rather have that conversation than sell you the wrong part, and it is the same people either way.
Useful things to have to hand: what the cable is feeding, how far it has to run, and what the terminal looks like at each end. A photograph of the terminal is worth a great deal.
